Labor Day, would not be labor day, with out a The Beehive Statesmen's annual tradition of performing at "Swiss Day's in Midway Utah. Back for another years performance for The Utah Arts Festival, the Beehive Statesmen took to the stage indoors for their participation in the event at the Leonard Cafe. Lot's of great harmony for enthusiastic crowd.
After a 16 month hiatus from all group singing due to the Covid -19 pandemic, the Beehive Statesmen dusted off the old pitch pipe, and anxiously performed their summer repertoire for a culturally starved audience. A great crowd was in attendance, for an evening of 4 -part Barbershop harmony. Some of the audience favorites sung by the "Men in Blue" were, Hi Neighbor, A Wink & A Smile, Danny Boy, America the beautiful, to name just a few. The Beehive Statesmen entertained the crowds with an inspiring performance of traditional Christmas songs in the barbershop style Monday night, Dec 2. Hosted by the Utah Cultural Celebration Center, the Statesmen continued their tradition of providing a free Christmas concert that is both inspiring and entertaining. The wonderful audience of over 250 persons were kind enough to laugh at the corney jokes and were genuinely engaged throughout the performance. The Statesmen wish to express their continued gratitude to the Salt Lake Zoo Arts and Parks program for their continuing support that makes our performances and out reach possible as well as our wonderful partnership with the Sons of Utah Pioneers. The Statesmen are proud of their efforts to embody our motto of 'Service Through S
During May of 2019, the Beehive Statesmen presented four shows, including shows in West Valley, South Jordan, and Draper.
This marks an expansion of the Statesmen's service area which heretofore had been mostly relegated to the North East and East Central regions of the city.
The Statesmen, who sing as a service to senior care facilities, and 'because it is fun', have presented seven shows in 2019 and plan to present a total of 25 shows by years end.
The Beehive Statesmen were very active this holiday season. We provided 11 concerts in 19 days to a wide audience. These included our annual Christmas show, a concert in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square and concerts for 5 different senior/assisted living centers. We enjoyed the opportunity to share our love of barbershop music with such diverse audiences and hope you will join us at our future events in the coming year!
